I have a HP Office Jet 8620... pricey but am a long time fan/installer of HP products.
But you know there's an issue with this model printer, and I'm done with being patient about the "Missing or Failed Printhead Error". I've removed the ink, cleaned everything -contacts, ink areas within the printhead, etc., and I even went to EBAY and got a new Printhead and that worked for a little bit but we're back in the same boat. I'm done messing with this and if you enjoy our money, you'd issue a rebate/replacement of this model printer. HP needs to step up and do this for the consumers.
I'm not sure what to do at this point... I need a printer in my line of work, and I enjoy the Insta Ink monitoring/service, but I may have to buy another brand at this point unless you have a real good answer.

Hi @g4dg3t5,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand dealing with persistent printhead errors on an HP Officejet Pro 8620 can be incredibly frustrating, especially when you've already tried several fixes without long-term success. Here are some steps you can take to potentially resolve the issue or seek further assistance
Troubleshooting Steps
Firmware Update: Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve hardware compatibility issues and bugs.
- You can check for updates via the printer's control panel or by visiting the HP support website. Update the firmware on an HP printer
Deep Cleaning:
- Perform a deep cleaning of the printhead from the printer's maintenance menu. This might help if there are any clogs or dried ink causing the issue.
Reseat the Printhead:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Open the printer and remove the printhead.
- Clean the electrical contacts on the printhead and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth and a bit of distilled water.
- Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinstalling the printhead.
- Reseat the printhead and ensure it’s properly aligned.
Reset the Printer:
- Perform a hard reset by unplugging the printer while it’s on, waiting 60 seconds, and then plugging it back in.
Genuine HP Cartridges:
- Ensure you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. Non-genuine or refilled cartridges can sometimes cause issues with the printhead.
