It means the printhead has failed and needs to be replaced -- and that is going to cost seriously -- probably well over $100 USD. I know this because my 8620 did the same thing three days ago and I investigated printhead replacement costs online.
In my case, I am not going to spend that money -- on a 6 year old printer -- and will get a new Epson to replace it for about the same money.
Why an Epson? Because this is the second HP AIO printer that has failed me due to printheads and I am not about to make it three. I am using an eight year old Epson printer I literally dug out of my closet and it is working just fine -- just does not have the features of the newer printers.
