Receiving "Printhead Problem"  "There is a problem with the printhead". Oxc19a0027.

Tried:

  1. Remove the ink cartridges from the printer.

  2. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.

  3. Wait at least 60 seconds.

  4. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

  5. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

  6. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

  7. Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

  8. Reinsert the ink cartridges, and then close the ink cartridge access door.

  9. If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.

  10. If you disconnected the USB cable, reconnect it to the rear of the printer.

  11. Try to print.

This did not work.  I also saw and tried another HP post reply as to remove the printheads, including a diagram.  This was not related to the 6968.  The printer was purchased on June 30th, 2016 and is now over 5 years old.

I see to the right of the printhead/ink cartridges (when parked) what I believe to be the auto cleaning unit area. It is REALLY loaded with ink and I believe it can no longer clean the heads. Is there a way to manually clean the heads and or the autocleaning area?

It appears I would have to take the printer somewhat apart further than any other instructions I have seen.  I am willing to do this.  The printer is way out of warranty and worse case I would need to get a new one.

Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated !!

Hi @KMSS,

I'd like to help!

The printer does not have a removable printhead, If you have already performed the steps from the document Printhead errors and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
