Printhead Problems:

The Printhead appears to be missing, not detected or incorrectly installed. This new error message with code: Oxc19a0023 has now started to appear after printing. Printer still functions, most of the time, except when stuck in Off Line, mode.  Older machine, S/N: (Edited) Does it need service, cleaning or remove and replace print head? Thanks Jake

Hi @Jake701,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

1. Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from the outlet and the printer.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on. This can often clear any temporary error messages.

2. Inspect and Reinstall the Printhead:

  • Open the printer cover and locate the printhead assembly.
  • Gently remove the printhead and inspect it for any visible damage or loose connections.
  • Carefully reinsert the printhead into the printer, ensuring it is securely seated in the carriage.

3. Clean the Printhead and Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it again for safety.
  • Carefully remove the printhead from the printer.
  • Using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water, gently clean the contacts on the printhead as well as in the printer carriage.
  • Allow all cleaned parts to dry completely before reinserting the printhead.

4. Update Printer Firmware:

Kindly refer to this link to update your printer firmware.

5. Set Printer Online:

  • Ensure the printer is online by going to the printer settings on your computer and deselecting "Use Printer Offline" if it is checked.
  • Ensure the printer is set as the default printing device.

6. Replace the Printhead:

  • If cleaning and reseating the printhead do not resolve the issue, it might be necessary to replace the printhead. Refer to your printer’s user manual for detailed instructions on replacing the printhead.

I hope this helps.
