Printhead errors on HP printers can indicate various issues related to the printhead assembly. The error code 62.80.25 specifically points to problems with the printhead that may require immediate attention and corrective actions.

Steps to Resolve Printhead Error 62.80.25

Reseat the Printhead:

  • The printhead needs to be removed and inserted again to ensure a proper electrical connection between the printhead and the carriage assembly.
  • If reseating the printhead does not resolve the issue, the printhead and/or carriage may need to be cleaned.
  • For cleaning, refer to the Carriage Interconnect Wiper procedure in your printer's manual.

Recover the Printhead:

  • Recovering the printhead(s) means that the printer automatically cleans and tests the printhead(s).
  • To perform printhead recovery:
    1. Press Enter on the front panel.
    2. Use the ↑ or ↓ keys to select “Recover printheads”.
    3. Press Enter and follow the on-screen instructions.

Replace the Printhead:

  • If reseating and recovering the printhead do not resolve the error, you may need to replace the affected printhead with a new one.
  • Follow the printhead removal procedure and insert the new printhead as instructed in your printer's manual.

Check Drop-Detector Calibration:

  • There could be a problem with the drop-detector calibration.
  • To re-calibrate, tap the Settings icon, then System tools > Calibrations > Drop-detector calibration.
  • Follow the instructions on the front panel to complete the calibration process.
