Hi @BreaderyStaff,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Smart Tank 6001 All-in-One printer is showing blinking printhead icons, it indicates a printhead error, either with the black or color printhead. Here's how to troubleshoot it effectively:

1. Identify the Blinking Icon

  • Left icon blinking = Color printhead issue.
  • Right icon blinking = Black printhead issue

2. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall and the printer.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

3. Check the Printhead Installation

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Gently remove and reinsert the printheads (black and color).
  • Make sure they click into place securely.
  • Close the access door and check if the error clears.

4. Clean the Printhead Contacts

  • Power off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the printheads.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to clean the copper-colored contacts on the printhead and inside the printer.
  • Let everything dry for 5–10 minutes before reinserting.

5. Update Firmware

  • Use the HP Smart app on your iOS device to check for firmware updates.
  • If available, install the update and restart the printer.

6. Replace the Printhead (if needed)

  • If the error persists, the printhead may be damaged or defective.
  • You can order a replacement through HP Parts Store.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
