@Zach727, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.
I understand you're seeing a "Printhead not detected" error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer while using Windows 11. Let's walk through the steps to resolve this issue.
Reset the Printer
Sometimes a simple reset can clear temporary errors:
- Turn the printer on.
- With the printer on, disconnect the power cord from the back.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall and then into the printer.
- Turn the printer back on.
Check the Printhead Installation
- Open the printer access door.
- Wait for the carriage to move to the center.
- Gently press down on the printhead latch and lift it.
- Remove and re-seat the printhead carefully.
- Ensure it clicks into place and close the latch securely.
- Close the access door and check if the error clears.
Clean the Electrical Contacts
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Open the access door and remove the printhead.
- Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the electrical contacts on the printhead and inside the carriage.
- Let everything dry for 5–10 minutes before reinstalling.
Update Printer Firmware
Outdated firmware can sometimes cause detection issues.
- Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
- Download and install the latest firmware for your printer.
