Dear colleagues:
I am pleased to write to all of you, wishing you all there to be in the best state.
I am using a printer Photosmart All-in-one C309a and I am facing the message that says lift the cartridges and lift the print head and reset and when I do all of this the message appears again and I can't enter to the printer menu. I bought a new printhead and also new cartridges but again the same message appears and I can't enter the printer menu. I tried to reset the printer many times without success... I would like to ask the following questions:
1-Where is the problem and how can I enter the printer menu?
2- I have also the following questions, we have no support for such a printer in my country, so I would like to ask: How to open the printer and try to replace the CMOS battery of it, it might be the problem at this point. I didn't find any video show this point of HP Photosmart 309a.
Thanks I am hoping to find a solution and looking forward to your help my colleagues.
Best wishes to all of you
Ashraf Ramadan

@Ashraf-Ramadan, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
I understand you are not able to use the printer due to this error. Perform the steps mentioned in this document - Printhead errors
Make sure the printhead is properly placed, refer to - Replacing the Printhead for HP Photosmart Premium All-in-One (C309) and HP Photosmart Premium Fax e-...
There is no CMOS battery in the printer. If the issue persists, I'm afraid it is an issue with the printer. As the printer is out of warranty,
I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.
Keep me posted for any other assistance.

Subject: Photosmart Printer All-in-One C309a - Re: Problem: Printhead is missing
Dear Mr. Eng. Kumar - the expert at HP:
Thank you very much for your detailed answer, wishing you and all of your HP colleagues there to be in the best state.
I tried all that you sent and unfortunately, the printer didn't enter to the main menu but let me kindly illustrate the following:
I have two printers HP Photosmart all-in-one and both of them were working excellently and in one day, both of them stopped at the same time! I don't know how it comes but in any case: The problem issue with the two printers was as follows: Printhead appears to be missing ..... Such a message appears even if the Printhead is not inside the printer, this happened with both printers! I bought a new printhead and new ink cartridges but the same message appears with both printers!
When the missing printhead message appears even if the printhead is out of the printer, so this might mean that it is a firmware problem but how can I update the firmware by myself? In Egypt-Cairo, I didn't find anyone who understood the problem or even could repair it ... Also HP-support in Cairo said to me that they don't know how to deal with such a printer!
The printers looks new and were working perfectly and I am very sad that the problem is with both printers at the same time! Generally, I tried the reset and tested the printer scanner and it moves through the menu test but I can't enter the printer menu and I don't know why both printers gave the same message that the printhead is missing even if the printhead is out of the printer! How can I update the printer's firmware in this situation and would both of them function again then or no one knows? Also, I didn't find any document that explains how to disassembly the printer.
Dear Mr. Eng. Kumar - the expert at HP:
According to what I explained above, would you kindly tell me if you or any one of your colleagues there have any suggestions about what can I do?
Thanks and looking forward to hearing from you.
Best regards
Sincerely,
Ashraf Ramadan

Printer disassembly is not recommended by HP. You may do it at your own discretion. There are no instructions available.
Also, there is no firmware update available for this printer due to its age. You may click here to visit the driver page of HP Support.
I understand your concern. However, there are no other steps to resolve this issue. I suggest you upgrade the printer.
Keep me posted for any other assistance.
