Is the printhead for this printer still available or am I doomed to purchase a new printer?

If the Printhead is confirmed to be faulty, I suggest you contact HP Support for Service Options and possible printer upgrade

 

Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/ and select your Country to get the Contact details for HP Support
