I need to print bank checks on an HP Envy Pro 6400, using check printing software that worked fine on my previous HP printers. So far having NO luck.
Can print the template with filled out info (payable to, amount, etc.) to a blank sheet of 8.5 x 11 paper. But when I put a single check in, it feeds into the printer, then the printer stops and gives the error: "Paper too short."
I'm sure there's some setup process I've neglected, but can't find ANYTHING in documentation, google search, forum search, etc., etc., etc....)
Please help!!!

I would guess the printer is still expecting the regular sized paper.
When you change the paper size you are using, you have to tell the printer about the change.
Example
Embedded Web Server (EWS)
Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
Tab Settings > Preferences > Tray and Paper Management
If applicable, check the Advanced section (at the bottom of the Tray and Paper Management menu)
Click Apply to save changes
NOTE: EWS is also available in HP Smart
Example
EWS_9025_Preferences_Tray_and_Paper_Management_All
