Does anyone have suggestions on the setting(s) needed to print business cards on a Deskjet 2548? I am using Avery Matte White Business Card paper, template number 28371. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Use Office Word or use the free Avery Design and Print Software (download from Avery) to create and print your business cards.
Avery® Matte Business Cards for Inkjet Printers 28371, Pack of 100
The precise Printing Preferences depend on whether you are printing "one side only" or "both sides" of the business cards.
For example...
Download and install Avery Design & Print software
Open the program
Click on "Business Cards" icon
OR
Enter your template number in the Search bar
Double-Click Select one of the template options:
- Business Cards - Print on one side only
- Business Cards, Wide - Print on both sides
- Business Cards, Tall - Print on both sides
Double-Click one of the card options (pre-decorated or the "plain card")
On the right side, click either Edit One or Edit All (depending on whether all the cards will be different or the same)
On the left side, Click the "Add Text Box"
Select your font, the size of that font
Erase the "test entry" in the text box and replace it with your first line
Click a "return" to continue on the next line, or click to enter a new Text Box
Add images if you like to one or all of the "cards"
Center / correct / check your entries
If you are adding text / images to the "second side" (and you selected a "two sided" template), click "Switch to back" and add text / images as desired to cards (one at a time or "all").
Click the Save icon and save your edited template - add to the "base" name to make the name unique.
Click Preview and Print
Click (under Preview) 2D Preview
Click Print
Click Printer properties
Select Media type = Brochure matte, Flyer paper, labels, or similar (depending on what is available in your paper type list)
NOTE: Select / Re-select the Media type to "kick" the creation of a new shortcut
Select Flip on long edge (when printing duplex)
tab Paper/Quality
Select Tray 1 (as opposed to leaving it as "any" or "automatic")
Select Quality as "normal"
Select color option
tab Layout
Verify / Adjust Orientation = Portrait
box Advanced
Verify / Adjust Paper Size = Letter (or A4 if your paper / region uses A4 as "standard" size)
Click OK (to close Advanced menu)
Click tab Printing Shortcut
Scroll down and click on "User Specified Print Settings" shortcut setup to highlight
Click Save As to create a "custom shortcut" > give the shortcut a name (Business Cards - two sided)
Click OK to close the Printing Preferences menu
And...
Print your cards

Looking to print Labels or Business cards?
HP Photo Creations provides printing of some labels and business cards.
From RocketLife :
HP Photo Creations includes templates for Avery 8160 and 8250 address labels, which print 30 copies on an 8½x11 label sheet. (The 8160 paper is designed for inkjet printers; 8250 is for laser printers.)
You can find the templates in the Gifts & More menu in the US and Canada. Note that each label contains identical information, so these are best for return address labels or for labeling products.
Business cards are found in the Business menu.

Hi PositiveMusic.
HP Photo Creations offers templates for printing 10 business cards on a page. We designed them for the Avery Clean Edge 8871 stock, but according to Avery's site, the 8871 layout is compatible with 28371. I believe the difference is the type of perforation.
HP Photo Creations is a free download for macOS and Windows at www.hp.com/go/hppc. You can find the Clean Edge cards in the Business menu.
Hope this helps,
