I have the HP Envy Photo 7800 that I use mostly for work and my college student uses it to print papers. Every paper we print, the ink is printed crooked on the page. It was barely noticeable but it is getting worse and it is really bad when scanning. It is till under warranty so I am trying to see if I can fix it or if it needs to be replaced.

Hi @RMParnell
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.
- Which application are you trying to print from?
- Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
- Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.
I understand the print quality is not fine, let us try these steps to resolve this issue:
Reset the printer
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.
Update the printer firmware
Click here to download and install the latest firmware from your computer.
Check the estimated ink levels. Replace any low or empty ink cartridges.
Clean the ink cartridges
-
On the control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Setup
icon.
-
Swipe up on the display, and then touch Printer Maintenance.
-
Touch Clean Cartridges, and then touch Continue.
If the print quality is unacceptable, touch Clean Again to continue the next level of cleaning. Repeat these steps for the third cleaning stage, if necessary.
NOTE: If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes before you perform both levels of cleaning again.
Align the printer
-
On the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Setup
icon.
-
Swipe up on the display, and then touch Printer Maintenance.
-
Touch Align Cartridges, and then touch Continue.
Try printing.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
