OfficeJet Pro 8100
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The 8100 feeds envelopes longitudinally in the CENTRE of the Paper tray.

No matter what I do, I CANNOT get the address to appear anywhere near the centre of the A4 sheets I use for testing.

There is also no way back IN to the setup to alter things without creating a new document each time.

My ANCIENT DeskJet 840C could print envelopes in Oo with no problem at all

Why is the 8100 not able to do such a simple thing?

Thanks Rainbow23,

I followed up the guide to print in wordpad, and began to understand how  to fine-tune the positiion with the margin settings.

The problem WAS getting my head around setting the media for landscape - when the printer was wanting to feed LOGITUDINALLY . . .

To save envelopes, I trimmed some A4 to DL size 22cm x 11cm (well, ok they are 1 cm short) - and drew a line on one side to mark the "flap"

All worked as expected, with the address correctly oriented AND on the correct side of the "envelope - and I transferred the procedure to Open Office Writer - and again it all worked fine.

Thanks for your help AND patience . . .

@rainbow23

No problem.

I moderate on three Synthesiser-related forums, most of which is in the nature of technical support.

We urge members to post any tips and hints they have, as these are often useful to other users having similar problems.

Hence my tip about trimming A4s instead of spoiling envelopes . . .

All "Grist to the Mill" so to speak . . .

Best Regards
