@Parrematheus, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It looks like you're experiencing slanted or skewed horizontal lines (appearing as '\') specifically when printing on A3 paper with your HP OfficeJet 7740. This is typically caused by one or more of the following:
Paper Path and Feed Check
- Make sure the A3 paper is properly loaded in Tray 1 or Tray 2.
- The paper guides should snugly align to the A3 sheet without bending or leaving gaps.
- If the paper is misaligned or skewed during feeding, it could cause angled lines.
Printhead Alignment
On your printer:
- Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Align Printhead.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete alignment.
This can correct image skew and uneven line printing.
Firmware Update
Make sure your HP 7740 is running the latest firmware:
- Download it from the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
- Choose your OS and look under Firmware.
Print Settings in Driver
Open your print dialog and go to:
- Printer Properties > Advanced > Printing Defaults.
- Verify paper size is set to A3, and not being auto-scaled or rotated incorrectly.
Also, ensure borderless printing is disabled if you're using regular office paper.
Try Printing from HP Smart or Another App
- To isolate software-related issues, try printing the same file using:
HP Smart App
Another PDF viewer or document editor - If the problem disappears, it may be specific to the software or print driver you're currently using.
Additional Tip:
If you're printing CAD or technical drawings, make sure the file is exported with high resolution, and you're using the correct paper type setting in the driver (e.g., "Plain Paper - Best" instead of Draft).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
