My printer has consistently provided two-sided printing of Word documents until today. I follow the set up rues to go to Options and Supplies, but when it opens it does not show the Option menu, implying I no longer have two-sided printing.  How can I recover it?

Hi @Bob04 ,

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

Follow the steps given below :

Step 1: Set up the print job

Set up the duplex print job in the document print settings.

  1. To avoid page ordering issues, load enough blank paper into the input tray to fully complete your print job.

  2. Open the document you want to print, click File, click Print, and then click Show Details if necessary.

  3. Look for a Two-Sided selection box.

Figure : Two-Sided option in the print settings

Two-Sided option in the print settings
    • If the Two-Sided option is available, your printer supports automatic duplexing. Select the checkbox next to Two-Sided, select Layoutfrom the unnamed menu at the center of the window, select long or short-edge binding from the Two-sided pop-up menu, and then click Print. You do not need to complete the rest of these steps.

    • If the Two-Sided option is not available, either your printer does not support automatic duplexing or additional setup is required for your automatic two-sided duplexing accessory. If you know your printer has the accessory, go to the Frequently asked questions to enable it. Otherwise, continue with these steps to manually print on both sides of the page.

  4. Before continuing, you need to know your printer type: rear loading or front loading. The page settings you will select depend on what kind of paper tray your printer has.

  5. Select Paper Handling from the unnamed menu at the center of the window, and then select Odd Only from the Pages to Print menu.

  6. Depending on your printer type, select one of the following settings from the Page Order menu:

    • Rear loading paper tray: Select Automatic

    • Front loading paper tray: Select Reverse

  7. Click Print.

  8. When all the pages are printed, remove any remaining unprinted paper from the input tray, and then continue to the next step.

Step 2: Print the other side of your pages

To print the other side, reload the printed pages into the input tray. How you reload the pages and what settings to choose depends on the printer input tray type and if you want to read the document like a booklet or a tablet. Read one of the following sections depending on your printer type.

Rear loading paper input tray

To print the other side, choose if you want to read the document like a booklet or like a tablet, reload the pages in the input tray, and then set up the print job in the software.

  1. Decide if you want to read the two-sided document like a booklet (flip pages along the long edge) or like a tablet (flip pages on the short top edge).

  2. Remove the first side pages from the output tray, tap the stack on a flat surface to align the pages, and then load them into the input tray.

    • For booklet reading, flip the pages over so that the printed side is facing down and load them top edge down.

    • For tablet reading, flip the pages over so that the printed side is facing down and load them top edge up.

I can no longer find the 2-sided option in my setup, either on the computer or the printer itself. Printer is printing 2-sided. I need to have the option to bring either 1-sided or 2. Thanks
