I’m trying to directly print a CSV “view” file directly from the Square POS website without saving it to any file, I just need a hard copy. My five year old, $45.00 HP Envy printer would do it . My brand new Envy 7955 will not

Hi @Klaus1984,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
We understand you are trying to print a CSV “view” file directly from the Square POS website using your HP ENVY Inspire 7955e without saving it first. Your older HP Envy printer allowed this workflow, and you expect similar functionality with your new printer.
Here’s what you need to know and how to get this working:
Root cause of the Issue
This is likely not a limitation of the printer, but rather:
- A change in how the Square POS site renders or allows printing
- Or a difference in how your new computer/browser handles print jobs compared to your previous setup
Newer devices and browsers may block or sandbox web-based file content like CSV “views,” making direct printing unreliable.
Option 1: Use Browser Print (Ctrl+P or ⌘+P)
- Open the CSV "view" page in Square POS.
- Press Ctrl + P (Windows) or Command + P (Mac).
- In the print dialogue:
- Select your HP ENVY Inspire 7955e printer.
- Ensure Headers/Footers and Background Graphics are set correctly (optional).
- Click Print.
💡 Note: This may not work if the CSV “view” is in a pop-up or dynamic frame. If so, continue to the next step.
Option 2: Copy-Paste into a Printable Web Form
If print formatting is broken:
- Select all the content in the CSV view (Ctrl+A > Ctrl+C).
- Paste it into a Google Sheet, Excel Online, or even a blank Gmail/Notepad page.
- Print directly from there.
Option 3: Temporary Save & Print Automatically
If all else fails:
- Right-click on the link or use "Download CSV" in Square.
- Save it to a temporary location.
- Right-click the saved file > Print.
You can even set up a "watch folder" to auto-print files if this is a routine task (let us know if you'd like help with that setup).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
