I do not want to use the browser to print, I want to be able to print from my computer as before the windows 10 update and the updated HP 6960 software. Is all printing only through web browser and only with certain programs? I liked being able to print from notepad, stickeys, microsoft word started 2011 and excell starter 2010. Yes, I know I have old software and computer, but it printed all these files before the updates.

Hi! @gildenstorm, Welcome to the HP Support Community
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Have you tried printing from a different application?
Do you get any errors while printing from the application?
Try uninstalling and reinstalling the Microsoft office application and try printing again and check if it works.
Perform a power reset.
- Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait at least 30 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn on the printer.
Also, try uninstalling the printer drivers from root level and install the full feature printer software.
In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
Select your HP printer.
Select Uninstall.
In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
Click on Drivers tab.
Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.
Select OK.
Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
Close Devices and Printers.
Update the full feature printer software using this link. Click Here
If the issue still persists try running HP print and scan doctor on your PC.

@gildenstorm,
You can try the steps recommended below.
If your printer connects to the computer with a USB cable, disconnect the cable from the printer.
Remove the printer from the devices list
To complete the uninstall, remove the printer and any Windows print drivers from the Windows Devices and Printers list.
-
Make sure the printer is turned on and in a ready state.
-
If your printer connects to the computer with a USB cable, disconnect the cable from the printer.
-
Search Windows for devices, and then click Devices and Printers or Device Manager in the list of results.
-
Search the list for your printer or expand the Printers option.
-
Right-click the icon for your printer
, and then click Remove Device or Uninstall device.
-
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the printer removal.
If multiple icons exist for your printer, remove them all.
