Hello, since I have had the printer, it does not fully print a whole page. It cuts off about .5" at the end of the printing.  Anyone have any suggestions to fix it?

Hi @Kyra05

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue where the printer is cutting off part of the page, and it’s printing incorrectly (with about 0.5" missing at the end of the printout). This can happen for a variety of reasons, but there are several potential solutions that might resolve the issue.

Here’s a step-by-step troubleshooting guide to help fix the problem:

1. Check Printer Settings:

The first thing you should check is your printer settings and ensure that the print area is set correctly for the paper size you're using.

For Windows:

  • Go to Control PanelDevices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your printer and select Printer Properties or Printing Preferences.
  • Look for settings such as Paper Size or Page Setup. Ensure that:
    • The correct paper size (e.g., Letter or A4) is selected.
    • The Margins setting is set correctly. Sometimes, if the margins are too small or incorrect, part of the page can be cut off.
  • Try adjusting the Margins to a standard setting (such as 0.5" for top, bottom, and sides) to ensure the print area fits on the page.

For Mac:

  • Open the document or page you want to print.
  • Click FilePrint.
  • In the Print dialog, ensure that the Page Size is set correctly (e.g., Letter or A4).
  • Make sure the scaling option is set to 100% or Scale to Fit to avoid shrinking the content and cutting off part of the page.

2. Check for Paper Size Mismatch:

If the paper size on your printer is not correctly set, it could result in part of the page being cut off. The printer may be expecting a different paper size than the one you are actually using.

  • Check the paper tray to ensure that it is loaded with the correct size paper (e.g., Letter or A4).
  • Ensure the paper guides in the tray are adjusted to fit the paper snugly, so the printer knows exactly what size to expect.

3. Adjust Printer Borderless Printing (if applicable):

Some printers have a borderless printing option that can extend the print area right up to the edge of the paper. However, enabling this option can sometimes cause print cutoff, especially if it’s not set correctly.

Disable Borderless Printing (if enabled):

  • Go to the Print Settings.
  • If you see an option for Borderless Printing, try disabling it and then test printing again. This should help in cases where the printer is trying to extend the print too far past the edge of the page.

4. Check for Software-Specific Scaling Issues:

Some programs may automatically scale or shrink the content to fit the page, leading to content being cut off.

  • If you’re printing from a program like Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, or another document editor, check the Page Setup or Print Setup within the application:
    • Ensure that it is set to 100% scale or actual size (not shrink to fit).
    • Disable any options that automatically scale the document to fit the page unless necessary.

For Adobe Acrobat Reader:

  • In Adobe Reader, check the Page Scaling settings.
    • When printing a PDF, make sure Actual Size is selected, not Fit to Page or Shrink to Fit, as these options can cause content to be scaled incorrectly and lead to cutoff.

5. Update Printer Drivers:

Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause various printing issues, including incomplete prints or cutoff printing. Ensure you have the latest drivers installed for your printer.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Go to the printer HPwebsite (
  • Find your printer model and download the latest drivers for your operating system.
  • Install the updated drivers and restart your computer.
  • Try printing again to see if the issue is resolved.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
