Color Laser MFP 178nwg

Hello, everyone!

I have a problem printing with my HP Color Laser MFP 178nw following a part change.

It's definitely hardware, not software.

After a heavy paper stucking, a coworker tried to remove the sheet, stuck at the orange roller (Fuser), with a very sharp pliers. As a result, the Fuser was slightly damaged all over and the prints left traces (makes sens ...). I ordered a new Fuser and just changed it.

I made the change through the rear hood by disconnecting the fusion unit, to take it out completely and change the roller. Everything went (according to me=p) well, I reconnected everything correctly.

The printer does not show any error when I print but the prints are not correct.
Only a very small part of my page prints, namely a 2-3CM band on the side. This part is printed correctly, but the rest of the sheet is white. I disassembled the printer again to make sure everything was in place. This time from the top, removing the entire scanner part and the top of the printer. Everything seems OK BUT I see that there is some extra toner left on one side of the printer (the same side correctly printed on my sheet), inside, at the Fuser / Transfer Kit level.

So I have the impression that all the toner remains on one side and is no longer distributed correctly over the entire width of the sheet.

I don't know what that means, but there must be a logical explanation.

I hope you can help me, thank you in advance!

When you send a print job, wait for a printer to feed paper into the printer, then open the front door to make the printer stop.

Open the back door and check on the transfer black belt is the image you are printing full or only 2-3 cm?

Thanks a lot for your help. I'll give it a shot as soon as I can (it's actually taking lots of time to disassemble everything =p).

Hello !

I have just done your testing.

The transfert black belt only display a part of the image it is supposed to print. Just the same way its actually printed on the paper.

Run the same test and check whether there is a drum image full or not.

The image is transferred in the following order: toner to drum, drum to belt, belt to paper. You need to check where in this process you have a full image and where not.

The drum image is not full !

Same partial left on a 2-3CM image.

Hello Valsimot, any idea with the new picture I have sent you ?

Thans a lot.

Check if the drum and toners are seated properly. Then check the laser, maybe it's contaminated, or something is blocking the laser beam, maybe the laser shutter is not opening/closing properly.

Any tips on where to find the laser and how it looks like ?

Under the drum, but it's covered. You only have a cut window in metal for the laser beam.
