I know how to adjust the tray; this is not the issue
My tray is only 12" long oncde I extend it with the blue tab. The entire plastic tray is only 13" long.
Is it posibble to print legal size paper with the tray HP sent with my 8610?

Hello, @DeaconLarry – Hope you are well 🙂
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel!
I see that you are facing issues while printing the legal size paper. I checked the printer specifications and found that the printer will support up to 8.5 * 14 in paper size.
Go to HP Officejet Printers - Loading Paper, Envelopes and follow the steps under “Load plain paper in Tray 1” to extend the tray and to load the larger size media.
Thanks, I look forward to hearing back from you!
Good luck 🙂

If you (or someone else) are (is) still having this issue, I believe you are missing the 2nd adjustment: there are TWO blue coded items in the front part of the tray for the adjustments to be done to accommodate legal size paper. The one on the front-left side of the tray lengthens the overall paper tray, and the other in the front-middle acts as the "stop" to hold the paper evenly. The output tray must also be extended to its full length to hold the longer paper. Hope this helps!
