My color prints have horizontal stripes which are spaced 3 centimers apart and are 2 millimeters wide. I have printed test pages and run diagnostic routines. The stripes do not show up on the test pages. I created a color test page using filled color blocks. I printed blocks in Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Black and Violet. The stripe in the Red color block is yellow. The Yellow color block has only a tiny pixel width stripe. The Green block has a faded green stripe, the Blue block has a faded blue stripe. The Black block has a very fine stripe that is almost indiscernable, and the Purple block has a light blue stripe.
This pattern of stripes is repeated exactly 3 centemeters apart throughtout my cololred images. This suggests to me that my printer needs service. If anyone has experience with a similar issue and can offer advice it would be appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Does this happen while copying too?
Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:
Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo
14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
15.) Restart the computer.
Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Hello and thanks for your message regarding my printer woes. To answer your first question, yes, this problem also occurs when I make a copy. I would like to add that at the time I created this inquiry i also noticed that my black ink cartridge was low. I have since purchased a new cartridge and installed it. This helped with the horizontal stripes a bit. The stripes still occur at 32 mm intervals, but now the small band within the stripes is much narrower. IT looks like something has scratched a line across the paper every 32 mm. On a sheet of 8 x 11 paper this means there are 8 horizontal strips on my page, each one precisely 32 mm from the previous one.
Your suggestion was to do a cleanse of the printer drivers and a reinstallation, however since the problem also occurs when doing a simple copy I think this eliminates printer drivers as a source of this problem. Do you concur with me on this conclusion? I am a bit reluctant to remove and reinstall drivers because I had a great deal of trouble with them when I originally purchased this printer last year.
I appreciate your suggestions. I think the question about the occurance during a plain copy session was very helpful. Please let me know what you think I should try next.
Thanks,
PGittins

I recommend you contact the HP Support Team as this could be a hardware issue since this happens while copying too.
