Thank you. It seems that the issue occurs when you Print, then continue using your device for something else. So Print then don't touch your device until print is done!

Hi @Timpnefc,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP printer is printing barcodes, lines, and squares instead of your actual documents, this issue might be due to several reasons. Here’s a quick troubleshooting guide to help resolve the problem.
Check Printer Drivers:
- Ensure that you have the latest drivers installed for your printer. Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause printing issues. You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.
Print Head or Cartridge Issues:
- If the print heads or cartridges are clogged or malfunctioning, it might cause unusual patterns. Try running the printer’s built-in cleaning cycle. Also, check if the ink cartridges are properly installed and have sufficient ink.
Check for Hardware Problems:
- Ensure that there are no loose connections or issues with the printer’s internal components.
Print a Test Page:
- Printing a test page or a printer diagnostic page can help identify if the problem is with the printer itself or the document being printed.
Reinstall Printer Software:
- Uninstall and then reinstall the printer software. This can help resolve any software conflicts that might be causing the issue.
Check Document Settings:
- Verify that the document you are printing is formatted correctly and not corrupted. Try printing a different document to see if the issue persists.
Reset the Printer:
- Perform a factory reset of the printer if the issue continues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
