HP PageWide 377dw

since this morning 4 customers have called me with problems on HP PageWide 377dw printers and also a 477
The touch screen no longer works and neither does the printer.
Has there been a firmware update? I know HP is discontinuing Pagewides, I hope they haven't decided to take them out of service!

Problem is a recent firmware update that auto pushed. See this thread as it is easily fixed. You will of course need to download the correct older firmware for each model.   https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printing-Errors-or-Lights-Stuck-Print-Jobs/HP-pagewide-pro-477dw-froze...

Any idea how I do this with a unit that won't stay active long enough to get to the usb menu?

You need to make sure that ALL ethernet and wireless ethernet is unplugged. That may mean you need to shut off your wireless router temporarily to accomplish this.  If that that does not work, then it is possible that your device is more affected than any I have worked on so far.
