Hello, I use OpenOffice and LibreOffice and up to now have had no problems printing #10 envelopes on a HP DeskJet 6540 printer. When I print using my newer HP 6978, it cuts off approx 5/8" of the return address on the left side of the envelope starting at the left edge. I have tried everything I have found on the internet but can't seem to find a fix. Everything else on the envelope i.e. the addressee prints normally. It's not like there is a margin issue as that should move the text to the right of the margin but in my case it cuts off text at the left side of the return address.
Any help is most appreciated.

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support community!
- Are you using the Landscape/portrait orientation?
It looks like it could be an issue with the formatting settings of the envelope.
Let's try adjusting the formatting of the envelope. This may fix the issue.
- In the Envelope dialogue box, go to Format tab
- Try adjusting the Position of the 'Sender'. (Increase the values)
- Check the preview before printing.
- Print the envelope.
- If the return address is still getting cut off, try adjusting(increasing) the Position of the 'Sender' again.
Let me know if this information helps.

Hello, This did not work. I have gone back and looked at every setting I can find in the software including making sure the touch pad on the printer is configured to print #10 envelopes. I tried both Landscape and Portrait and neither setting made a difference. Again, this has not been an issue with my HP DeskJet 6540. It prints correctly with it.
Seems that if envelopes print correctly on one HP printer, they should do likewise on a newer model.
Can you think of anything else to try?
Thank you.

Ae you selecting the paper size as '#10 Envelope' Paper on the Open office?
Usually, the envelope that is inserted in the Open Office has a 'User format'
Try changing it to '#10 Envelope'
After inserting the envelope, Go to Format > Page.
On the Page, tab change the format to '#10 Envelope'
Click OK.
Try printing the envelope again
Let me know if this works.

Have you changed the paper size on the printer itself?
Open and close the paper tray and evaluate the shown prompt show the correct paper size, you might need to change the paper size setting for the printer itself as well.

Let's try these steps:
Step 1: Power Reset
- Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector.
- Turn the printer on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Wait at least 60 seconds
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
Step 2: Update the Application and the printer.
- Please try updating the "OpenOffice and LibreOffice" application
- Also, try updating the HP Printer firmware. Refer to this link to update the printer firmware.
- Try to print again.
Let me know what happens.

Please check if you are selecting the correct Envelope Orientation.
That would make a difference as well. Try adjusting the orientation.
Also, check if there is an option called "Minimize Margins" checkbox. Try selecting the option if available.
