I recently installed a new 932XL cartridge which was working fine.  I subsequently installed a three cartridge 933XL and the colors were printing way off from what they were supposed to be.  I cleaned the printhead three times, and got the colors right, however, now the black ink is leaving a smudge line all the way down the page.  I can't seem to get rid of it.  Cleaned and tested.

Welcome to HP forums, I see that you are getting print quality issues.

  • Make a copy and check if that prints fine?

Meanwhile:

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page

  1. Load plain white paper into the input tray.

  2. On the printer control panel, touch the Right Arrow () to display more options.

  3. Touch Setup (). The Setup Menu displays.

  4. Touch the Down Arrow (), and then touch Reports.

  5. Touch Print Quality Report. The test page prints.

Figure : Print Quality Diagnostic Page

  6. Image: Print Quality Diagnostic Page.

Let me know how it prints.

Thanks so much for your assistance!  My smudges seem to have corrected, and the Print Quality Report is just as your recommendation suggests.  It took an awful lot of ink to get this worked out though!  Thanks again.  Susan
