I have the HP Officejet 5745 printer for sometime.
always performed very well. Somehow, all of the sudden stopped printing an a legend appears on the little screen:
Remove an reinstall ink cartridge making sure it is correctly installed and press OK"
Removed cartridges several times. Nothing wrong with them with plenty of ink. What do I do next??

Update the printer firmware
Download available firmware updates from the HP website
With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. For more information, go to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.
If you have already performed the steps from the document Ink Cartridge Errors and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.
Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.
