Hi @CSAUBYN,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer is showing a “Problem with printer or ink system” error. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Restart the Printer
Turn off the printer while it’s still powered on, unplug the power cord, and wait for 60 seconds.
Plug it back in and power it on to clear any temporary hardware or ink system error.

Check Ink Cartridges
Open the ink cartridge access door and ensure all cartridges are properly seated in their slots.
Remove each cartridge and reinsert it firmly until it clicks into place.

Clean Cartridge Contacts
Remove the cartridges and gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
Let them dry for a minute before reinstalling.

Use Genuine HP Ink Cartridges
Make sure you’re using original HP ink cartridges. Non-HP or refilled cartridges can sometimes trigger this error.

Perform a Printer Reset
Disconnect the power cord from the printer and from the wall outlet.
Wait for at least 60 seconds, then reconnect the power cord directly to the wall and turn on the printer.

Check for Firmware Updates
On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer and install any available updates.
This ensures the printer runs with the latest bug fixes and compatibility improvements.

Run a Printhead Cleaning
From the printer menu, navigate to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.
This helps clear ink clogs that may cause system errors.

I hope this helps.
