Product: HP Officejet Pro X576dw Multifunction Printer

If I power cycle the printer it restarts ok, but as soon as i click on the touch screen once or twice it completely freezes. This started after I saw the "missing printhead" error on the screen. I power cycled and it started up just fine, without the error message. But it was not seen on the wireless network anymore. Now, when I restart, it seen on the network, but freezes as soon as I try to send a print job.

@Adam1912, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Power Cycle & Reset the Printer

Before diving into more complex troubleshooting, make sure to perform a complete reset.

Power Off the printer.

Unplug the power cable from the back of the printer and leave it unplugged for at least 1-2 minutes.

Reconnect the power cable, power the printer on, and check if the issue persists.

This basic reset can sometimes clear up any minor software glitches.

Check for Printhead Issues

The "missing printhead" error could indicate that there’s a problem with the printhead, which might be causing the system to freeze when trying to send print jobs.

You may refer to this guide to troubleshoot the issue: HP Inkjet printers - Printhead errors | HP® Support

Reset Network Settings

Since you mentioned the printer was not seen on the wireless network, it’s possible that a network issue is contributing to the freezing problem.

Reset the network settings:

On the printer's control panel, navigate to Settings > Network or Wireless Settings.

Look for the option to Restore Network Defaults.

After resetting, reconnect the printer to your network either via the touchscreen or using the WPS method.

Run HP Smart:

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Garp

Thanks so much for your prompt response and help to my printer issue.

I have done the power cycle and rest printer and issue still there.

moving on to other solutions, I noticed that the troubleshoot is referring to a different model not mine

my printer model is HP Officejet Pro X576dw  not inkjet

can I have guides related to my printer model?

Thanks again for your support
