Thanks to your suggestion, I deleted the old printer information from System Preferences, Printers and Faxes, and reinstalled the package that you recommended. The iMac successfully prints now. So I sure appreciate your help.

PS. Now in the printer dialog box, it says, "Marker Supply Low." What does this mean? Does it mean that my ink supply is low?

PPS. I still get those notification boxes on my desktop which warn about HP malware that needs to be reported to Apple. How do I make those go away.  Thanks again!

Not sure about the malware- Try installing the 5.1 driver package. https://support.apple.com/kb/dl1888?locale=en_US

Alternatively, you can just delete the offending file and see if it impacts your printing/scanning/whatever.

Thanks Bryan, I'll try this out tomorrow late in the day when we return home.

Bryan, I deleted the HP components that were generating those supposed "malware" notifications and moved them to the trash.  Now my HP printer is working without any problems. I sure appreciate your help.  Thanks again.

Thanks. Seemed to work.

I downloaded the file, but was unable to open it nor install the drivers.  This pop-up message comes up every time I try to open it:

Safari can’t resume this download.

The file “hp-printer-essentials-S-5_14_8_4.pkg.download” doesn’t appear to be a valid download file.

I haven't found another solution and I'm still stuck with no connection to printer and the below pop-up message won't go away.

“HPDeviceMonitoring.framework” will damage your computer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try downloading the file using Chrome, Opera, or Firefox. It is a valid file once the whole thing is downloaded (it will not end in ".download" but will end in ".pkg")

That worked!  I'm able to print again.  Thank you.  I'm still getting the malware pop-ups. Any thoughts on how to get them to stop?

HP Recommended

Delete the HP folder here:

/Library/Printers/hp

Let me know if that fixes it!

Yes. It is fixed.! Thanks again.
