Hi @Connie115,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like your printer is unable to connect to your wireless network due to MAC address filtering being enabled on your router. MAC address filtering restricts devices from connecting to your network unless they are explicitly allowed. Here's how you can add your HP printer to the list of permitted devices on your router.

Steps to Add Printer to MAC Filtering List:

Find Your Printer's MAC Address:

  • On your HP printer, press the wireless button to open the network settings.
  • Navigate to "Network Configuration" or "Wireless Settings" to view the printer’s MAC address. You may also find it printed on a label at the back or underneath the printer.

Access Your Router Settings:

  • Open a browser and type your router’s IP address into the address bar (often it is something like 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1).
  • Log in using your username and password (usually found on a label on your router, or check with your ISP if unsure).

Locate MAC Filtering or Access Control:

  • In the router settings, find the MAC Filtering or Access Control section. This might be located under the Wireless Settings or Security tab, depending on your router model.

Add Your Printer's MAC Address:

  • In the MAC Filtering/Access Control section, you should see an option to Add a new device.
  • Enter your HP printer’s MAC address here and save the changes.

Disable MAC Filtering (Optional):

  • If MAC filtering is not necessary for your network security, consider disabling it temporarily to allow easier device connection. This can usually be done in the same settings where you manage the filtering list.

Reconnect Your Printer:

  • After adding your printer’s MAC address, attempt to reconnect your printer to the wireless network by following the HP printer’s Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer control panel.

Note:

  • If MAC filtering is disabled but the printer still won’t connect, verify that the printer is within range of the wireless network and that the wireless network is functioning properly.
  • You can also temporarily disable the firewall on the router to see if it’s blocking the connection, but be sure to enable it again afterward.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
