Hi @Wloven,

Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums! This is a great location to get resolutions and interact with experts from the community. I understand that you are unable to print from your HP OfficeJet 8710 All-in-One Printer as the printer is stuck on the question mark icon.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

How is the printer connected? USB/Wireless

Do you get any error message on the printer screen or on the computer screen?

Are you able to print a test page from the printer?

This issue could occur if the printer is in error state.

Let's go through a few steps to resolve this issue.

And here's are a few steps listed below to perform a hard reset on the unit:

1.Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
2.Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
3.With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
4.Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
5.Wait at least 60 seconds.
6.Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
7.Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
8.Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on. The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
9.Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to update the printer firmware, If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to install the latest firmware update, click here: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/OJ8710_R1716A.exe

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

I am getting this question mark icon. I can't find what the issue is. Also, I cannot print. I checked my internet connection. The printer shows it's still connected to my wifi. I do wireless printing. I did restart my computer in which my items in queue did print. I tried printing again and I am still having the same issue.

Hi @annamarieparks

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the printer issue.

To better assist you - May I have the exact model name of the printer? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

While you respond to that, try pressing the question mark icon.

Also, try these steps to reset the printer -

1) Take out the cartridges.

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Wait for 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not to a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
