Recently I have updated my HP OfficeJet 202 printer via EWS. The newest firmware (2017 year released) was uploaded successfully. The device rebooted and I printed some documents as well.
I am able to print privacy photos today and turn on my device. However it reports “ERROR CODE 0XB839423C” on the front panel. Also it could not load into initial state after restart.
To my great disappointment, device is not worked absolutely. It seems that this is an expensive dead-beef on my desktop.

Hello, @Bonifacy – Hope you are well 🙂

I see that the Officejet printer is stuck on “0X” error code. Let’s try performing a power drain to try and fix this issue. Here are the steps:
- Remove the cartridges from the printer.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Remove USB cable, if present.
- Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
- Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
- Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Good luck 🙂

Thanks Dvortex,
The issue resolved, printer is in worked state now.
It seems that “cartridges removal” is root and required step to solve similar issue(s).
I followed the same steps (except remove cartridges) before to recover my device, but come to nothing. As a result, I initiated this topic to get support.

At me too such message "ERROR CODE 0XB839423C"
You recommend "remove the cartridge".
How can I remove the cartridge if the printer does not respond to anything?
The print head does not move with the hands. It is hard on the left.
