THE PRINTER DOES NOT PRINT AND IT DOES NOT SCAN.  It feels like it is not communicating with the I Mac, and yet I have the printers icon in idel. when I click in resume, it does nothing! and on the printer itself, it says that on the screen that desktop device is not connected. I checked cables and it is connected. How can I download and install the app again with updates etc to see if it can be reconnected?

A warm welcome to HP Forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

I understand you are not able to print or scan and I'll be glad to help you out. However, for an accurate solution, I would need more details:

Is the printer connected to Mac using a USB cable?

Are you able to copy documents?

Could you also try to print a test page and let me know the results. In order to print the test page:

1.) On the printer control panel, touch the Right Arrow () to display additional options.

2.) Touch Setup (), touch the Down Arrow (), and then touch Reports.

3.) Touch Print Quality Report.
