HP 9130e    STopped printing altogether from my laptop and my husbands laptop.  We have re installed all the drivers, for both the computers and the printer.  Did the restart etc.  NOW we can print, but it lags terribly from time of send to time of print.  When first installed printer was very fast and nearly immediate for print.  What is wrong here?

Hi @LNEB1952,

Welcome to HP Support Community!

We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊

  1. Check Network Connection:

    • Ensure that the printer is connected to a stable network. Intermittent Wi-Fi issues can slow down the printing process.
    • Consider connecting the printer via Ethernet for a more stable connection if possible.
  2. Printer Queue and Settings:

    • Clear the printer queue on both laptops. Sometimes, a backlog can cause delays.
    • Ensure that both laptops have the printer set as the default device.
  3. Printer Settings Optimization:

    • Verify the printer settings on both laptops. Setting the print quality to "Standard" rather than "Best" can speed up printing.
    • Reduce any advanced print settings such as duplex printing or scaling which might be unnecessarily enabled.
  4. Firmware Update:

    • Ensure the printer firmware is up-to-date, which can help resolve performance issues. Check HP's website for any available updates.
  5. Check Printer Status and Performance:

    • Use the printer's Embedded Web Server interface (accessible via IP address) to check if there are error messages or maintenance warnings.
  6. Network Traffic and Router Settings:

    • Check whether heavy network traffic or outdated router firmware could be affecting the printer's performance.
    • Reboot the router to clear any congestion that might be causing delays.
  7. Driver and Software Reinstallation:

    • Although you've already reinstalled the drivers, you might also try uninstalling and reinstalling HP Smart or any HP software on both laptops, ensuring that you're using the latest version available.
  8. Document Complexity:

    • Try printing simpler documents to see if large or complex files are contributing to the delay. High-resolution images or complex layouts can increase processing time.
