Hi @LP60,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand your HP 8139e printer is showing a printhead problem. Let’s go through a few steps to identify and resolve the issue.
Restart the Printer
Leave the printer powered on.
Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and from the wall outlet.
Wait for 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors or extension cords).
Reconnect the cord to the printer and power it on.
Reseat the Printhead
Open the printer’s ink cartridge access door and allow the carriage to move to the center.
Gently lift the printhead latch and remove the printhead.
Check the contacts on both the printhead and the carriage for ink buildup or debris.
Reinsert the printhead firmly and close the latch.
Inspect Ink Cartridges
Remove all ink cartridges.
Check for any protective tape still on the nozzles or vents.
Wipe the copper-colored contacts gently with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
Allow them to dry for a few seconds and reinstall them properly.
Run the Printhead Cleaning Utility
On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Maintenance > Clean Printhead.
Allow the printer to complete the cleaning cycle.
If the issue persists, repeat the cleaning up to two more times.
Check for Firmware Updates
Make sure your printer is connected to the internet.
On the printer’s touchscreen, navigate to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.
Install any available updates and restart the printer.
Perform a Hard Reset (if required)
With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord.
Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain residual power.
Reconnect the power cord directly to a wall outlet and turn the printer back on.
Test the Printer
Print a test page or alignment page to check if the error clears and print quality improves.
I hope this helps.
