Whether - and how - you do so depends on your printer model, your Operating System Version, whether or not you have access to Office Word or Avery Design and Print Software.

The Printer model is important:

The sheet size for this product is a "partial sheet" of paper, that is, the size of the paper is custom -for example, the size is perhaps 4.24 X 10 inches.

If your printer cannot print custom paper size forms, then it will not print this sheet of labels / cards.

If your printer cannot handle heavier paper, it will not print on label / card paper.

Information of this type - What the printer can do - is typically found in your printer's category Product Information > Specifications

For those reading:

The following lacks detail as is necessary when answering without having any information about OS, template or project software (for example, Word or Avery), printer model, printer software.  Assuming you have a working knowledge of your printer, its specifications, and the software you are using, the information is likely sufficient.

Opening the old style .doc template as downloaded from Avery

The template seems to be "borderless" on the right side - It is likely that the actual content can certainly be controlled to keep it "inside" any required margin for the printer.

For example, Margins, paper size, paper type (Media) and / or borderless printing are printer model dependent.

Converting the .doc format to .docx appears to change the table location but does nothing for brining the right side of the cell boundaries within the "paper size" outline.

What to do?

Assuming your printer supports all the requirements:

Look up the Specifications for your printer to determine the supported minimum and maximum custom paper size.

  • Measure the sheet of labels - do not use my "estimated" numbers.  Measure within 1/8 inch in both X and Y directions.
  • Create a Custom Paper Size form for your sheet paper.
  • Load your paper into the printer - assuming the printer has a "tray", load the paper print side down, short side and "top" to the back of the printer.  NOTE:  This could be different for your printer - read your User Guide!!
  • If the printer supports a control panel, close the tray, select to "modify" / "change" the paper size / type.  If the size you want is not in the list, select Custom
  • Use Word to open the template > Edit content > save-as "some-name" > and File > Print
    • Suggestion:  Keep the content on the right size of the table within .5 inches of the edge.  Most printers will tolerate a 1/2 inch margin on the side.  If your printer supports it, you might be able to set to "borderless", though the printer must (of course) support borderless AND the combination of paper size, source, media must be acceptable.
  • Set Printer Properties for tray, size, orientation, and Media (kind of paper)
    • Source = Tray 1
    • Size = "Your custom size form"
    • Orientation = Portrait
    • Media = Card / Brochure matte / labels (wording varies widely by printer model / printer software)

OR

  • Download the Avery Design and Print for your Mac OS / PC device
  • Open the software > click to design / print "cards" (business cards)
  • Enter your template into the search bar
  • Edit the content for "one" or "all"
  • Save as "some name"
  • Print
  • In the print preview / setup, enter your printer properties / settings (source, media, size, etc)
  • and Print the sheet(s).
  •

If you are not sure of the output, I suggest you first print your template content on plain paper.
