All of a sudden, the printer stopped working. I send a document to print, the carriage moves, the screen reads printing but nothing happens. I have to cancel from the screen. It will not cancel printing from the PC. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the software twice. It will not print a test page. However, it will print a print quality diagnostics page which means the WiFi is connected. I ran the Windows printer troubleshooter and it reads no issues. Tried printing PDF files, Word docs, etc. Printer is connected to PC via WiFi. HELP!

Hi @sueb
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8210 Printer is not printing, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Check Printer Status:
- Make sure the printer is turned on and there are no error messages on the printer's control panel.
- Ensure there is enough paper in the tray and that the ink cartridges are properly installed.
Check Printer Connections:
- If you are using a USB connection, ensure the cable is securely connected to both the printer and the computer.
- If you are using a network connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet), check that the printer is connected to the network. You can print a network configuration page from the printer’s control panel to verify this.
Restart the Printer and Computer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Restart your computer.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
- Try printing again.
Update Printer Drivers:
- Visit the HP Support website and download the latest printer drivers and software for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8210.
- Install the updated drivers and software on your computer.
Check Print Queue:
- On your computer, open the print queue to see if there are any stuck print jobs.
- Cancel all print jobs in the queue and try printing a new document.
Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from the HP Support website.
- This tool can diagnose and fix many common printing and scanning problems.
Set as Default Printer:
- Ensure that the HP OfficeJet Pro 8210 is set as the default printer on your computer.
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners (Windows) or System Preferences > Printers & Scanners (Mac), and set the OfficeJet Pro 8210 as the default printer.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Ensure your printer firmware is up to date. You can check for firmware updates on the HP Support website or through the HP Smart app.
Print a Test Page:
- Use the printer's control panel to print a test page. This can help determine if the issue is with the printer or the computer.
Check Ink Cartridges:
- Make sure the ink cartridges are not empty and are properly installed.
- Replace any low or empty cartridges and try printing again.
If the printer still does not print after trying these steps, there may be a more serious hardware issue.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I already did all of these things. Some I have done two and three times. The computer queue reads 1 job but no errors. The printer screen just reads "printing" but nothing happens. Scan doctor shows all green checks.
Is there a way to reset the printer to factory default settings? Thinking maybe that might help to do that and then reload software.

Hi @sueb,
I see that the steps recommended did not help.
As a last resort, we need to perform a semi-full reset to restore the printer back to its original settings.
The reset instructions are specific to your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instructions to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
