On new Dell Insprion with Win 7 Professional 7 64 bit, can not install software of older F4480 inkjet.
Message received:
"This computer does not have the necessary USB software support to allow completion of a USB installation. The installation cannot continue until this is resolved.
In order to install this printer as a USB device, please refer to your computer documentation for more information about USB drivers."
Not much help from HP to fix problem.
Tried to follow tip Shlmoi in HP Forum addressing same problem.
BUT found no usbready.exe file in setup folder.
?? Please advise.

Hello, @BBern – Hope you are well 🙂
Thanks for engaging in the HP Forums! I see by your post that you are experiencing issues while installing the F4480 printer. I will certainly do my best to help you 🙂
Appreciate all your efforts so far. I understand you tried the steps mentioned in the thread without any luck. But, I would suggest you give these steps a try again as explained below:
- Press the "Windows logo" key + "R" to get the "Run" window.
- Type %temp% and press ok to get the temp folder. Delete all files from this folder (Skip the ones which you cannot delete)
- Now, click on http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL27506/al-68493-5/DJ_AIO_05_F4400_NonNet_Full_Win_WW_140_... to download the printer driver.
- Once the download is completed the files will be "extracted". When the extracting process is completed, the installer will open. Cancel the installer / stop the installer.
- Now go back to the temp folder, open the latest HP installation folder which begins with 7z (e.g. 7zs1234)
- Open the Setup folder and locate the usbready.exe file and rename it into usbready.old.exe (I have tested this myself & usbready.exe file will be extracted once you download this package)
- Browse back to the main extraction folder (the folders who starts with 7z) and launch the Setup.exe file.
You can also check http://hp.care/2jrADtn where the same issue was resolved.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
Good luck 🙂
