I have a several month old  LaserJet Pro 200 Color MPF 276nw.  Recently on nearly every print job it prints red dots spaced about an inch apart down the page vertically about 2/3 of the way across the page. I have downloaded and installed the latest firmware from HP. I have the paper set to "General everyday printing" and using plain paper.

Any Suggestions?

Yes, I removed the Magenta cartridge and there is a mark on the red roller about the position of the dot.

Thanks.

I have tried this before. Tried it again and it does not solve the problem!

Most likely you have to replace the magenta cartridge.  It has 3 different rollers (charge, developer and RS) that have a circumference of around 1 inch.  There might be contamination or damage in one of these rollers, causing the repetitive defect.

This is my problem too.  My Brother Laser printer HL-3170CW is only a few months old and is making red dots down the center of the page, has been doing it for a few weeks.  This is the original toner cartridge that came with the printer.  Seems awfully expensive to have to replace it already.  Is there an alternative?  Is this a common problem with this printer?

I have examined the cartridge and see nothing wrong with it.

Setting Paper type solved the issue, but how do I make this permanent?  I print a document, and the next print job is set for Unspecified again.

Hello, JimJ1.  Which printer do you have? Were you having red dots also?

I have a similar problem with my HP Color Laser Jet Pro 477fdn with recurring red hash marks in a verticle line down the page since installing new color cartridges.  So now I know that there is a defect in the Magenta cartridge that I cannot just wipe away, but I have tried.  I actually cannot see the defect, but this forum and HP employees have made it clear that the magenta toner cartridge is defective.  So do I get rewarded for using genuine HP cartridges and get a free replacement or is this an added printing expense for me using an already expensive printer when it comes to printing color?
