My black HP63 cartridge was showing empty and not printing. I refilled it with ink, reinstalled it and it prints a test page without issue. However, it will not print documents because the printer apparently thinks it's still empty. Is there a way to reset or disable the ink level so that I do not have to buy a cartridge that I do not need?

Hi @Juxtpos
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the "cartridge empty " issue.
You may refill your cartridges or use remanufactured cartridges, but you may run into problems. HP will not guarantee the functionality of those ink cartridges.
You cannot turn the ink monitor off on the printer.
Let's try a power reset on the printer
Reset the product
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
- Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
Try the steps in the document -Error Indicates Faulty Ink Cartridge
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
