Operating System: Android 9.0 Pie

I'm trying to set up my printer through the HP SMART app. When I try to set up the printer and connect it through wifi direct.. It asks for a password. I've never set up a password for it and believe it needs to be reset, as it is using the password from the previous owner. Am I missing something? If not, how would I go about reseting the password and make it my own?

The given solution did not work. The HP SMART app is still asking me for a password when i try to connect through direct Wi-Fi.

All printers will have a default password applied as a matter of security for the wireless. I misunderstood your original question and thought that you were being prompted for a user name and password to access settings. Consult the users guide available here https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-laserjet-pro-mfp-m28-m31-printer-series/16647082/model/16647...

for directions on connecting to wireless and all other functions of the device.
