Envy 6055e

I replaced the toner cartridges on my daughter's Envy 6055e printer. I was able to print a color test page only. I now receive an E0 error and cannot print. Does something need to be reset? Online info hinted that the error might stem from my daughter no longer being enrolled in the Instant Ink program. How can I remove this error message to begin printing?

Hi @Claves,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand The HP ENVY 6055e printer might display an error code E0 if it's having trouble recognizing the ink cartridges or if there's an issue with the printer's firmware. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

  • Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the toner cartridges are properly installed. Open the printer cover and double-check that each cartridge is securely seated in its slot.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: Sometimes, the contacts on the cartridges or inside the printer may get dirty or covered in ink residue, preventing proper communication. Carefully clean the contacts with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab dampened with distilled water. Make sure the cartridges are dry before reinstalling them.
  • Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. Sometimes, a simple restart can clear temporary errors.
  • Update Firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. You can usually do this through the printer's control panel or by visiting the HP support website and searching for your printer model. Updating the firmware can often resolve various issues.
  • Remove Instant Ink Dependency: If the printer's error is indeed related to the Instant Ink program, you might need to remove any dependency on Instant Ink. visit the HP Instant Ink website to manage your account settings and remove your daughter's printer from the Instant Ink program if she's no longer enrolled.

Hello, Gaya1239.

You are very kind to reach out to me. Thank you!

I did reseat the cartridges, but I did not clean off the contacts. My daughter can try that. When I first tackled the printing problem (3 months ago?), I replaced the ink cartridges, and a test page printed just fine in color. I was then told that the printer needed to be “reset” to remove the error message. I was not allowed to do this for my daughter because I was logged in using my HP account instead of her account, and the printer is associated with her account. I had turned off and restarted the printer that day.

When I worked on the printer earlier this week, I restarted the printer, and the error message was gone! But as soon as I tried to print, the error message returned.

My daughter did contact the Instant Ink program online, and all they would allow her to do was add a different charge card. I’m not sure that she tried to remove her printer from the program. Is that easy enough to do herself, or does an HP employee need to do that?
