Removing an obselete printer as the default on my phone

Two ideas to start...

It might be as easy as just telling the old printer to "hide" or go away (forget the printer).

The setup on your phone is likely different from HP Smart for iPad in the example.

That said,

Select the "old printer" when you open the HP Smart application

Check in "Printer Settings" -- perhaps under section Advanced for "Hide printer" or "Forget this printer" (or similar).

In general, if you have not done so,

Uninstalling the (HP Smart) application from the phone might help.

After you uninstall the app, Switch off the phone - wait a few seconds - Switch on the phone.

"Get" a new copy of the application from the appropriate "Store" - for example, Apple store for iPhone.

It will be necessary to sign into the app and "Add Printer".
