I am an engineer who repairs a wide variety of equipment including electronics and components. This includes gluing broken parts together with Gorilla glue and pins. I find the printer is extremely versatile and I used it to print photos and DVD writable discs and Memorex DVD labels. I also bought genuine inks that are barely used.
Unfortunately the paper feed from the main and photo tray is not working. On Print, there is a whirring sound and an attempt to print followed by an out of paper error message. Cleaning the rollers with water does not solve the problem. On reviewing online recommendations I note that the drive cog can slip on the drive shaft. A recommendation is to secure it back in place with Gorilla super glue. However, to reach the drive shaft and cog requires disassembling the printer.
I need service information to assist me to disassemble the printer to reach the drive shaft location, instead of working blind using trail and error by removing screws and disconnecting ribbon cables. I can also lubricate and clean as I progress.
Any information to assist is appreciated including a service manual if available.

Hi Sandy, Thank you for your help.
Unfortunately, I am not enthusiastic regarding support for old inkjet printers such as the C309a. I empathise with the pricing and inventory problems related to inks and the unfair competition from the China Economic Zone. Repairing old electronic equipment such as I am attempting with the C309a is not supported with spare parts or technical information on how to remove parts to reach components that need attention. Perhaps there were manuals for this but they appear to be conspicuously unavailable, perhaps to encourage the sale of new equipment.
Discard old and buy new is supported by new equipment from China where parts are only available for the brief life of the warranty, then may become available from resellers or can be manufactured in uneconomical for repair quantities to make money. Planned obsolescence becomes a corrupting way to achieve this.
As a result, the repair business for consumer electronic equipment has mostly disappeared for out of warranty products. I attempt to repair my equipment where possible if someone is willing to help with the removal of parts to reach a repair point, otherwise I can be wasting my time with trial and error. HP must have had technicians who had training to do this with manuals or otherwise.
Where do I find useful instructional help for out of warranty equipment from HP such as what I am faced with now?.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
