HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer

Replacement Printhead for my 8620 is part # CR322A...  not available through HP Parts store... also not available through the -one- HP Parts Reseller that HP lists for Canada  (a number of the US HP Parts resellers listed do have it in stock and readily shippable -- but don't ship to Canada)  - what's up HP?

1)  The -One- HP Parts Reseller for Canada -now- shows a result when searching for CR322A ... but you have to be a Reseller to purchase anything from them????

2)  Tried the HP Tech Support line...  but the phone system just asks 7  "narrow down"  questions  (in question 5,  I do indicate that I'm not in warranty or under an extended warranty)... after I answer the last question ("Home Use" ... the line just disconnects ... no message, nothing.

Doesn't make any sense to me... why would you have to have an extended warranty... just to get decent Customer Support on how to <reasonably> obtain a spare part (that is known/expected to fail at some point) ??

Thanks Rainbow23,

Have tried what you suggested… sent e-mails to the two closest HP Authorized Service Centers, as follows:

(no responses to-date, will update when I receive)

To:  Ram Imaging  on  Wed. April 5 at 3pm

To:  TIG  on Sun. April 9 at 1pm

“Printer has been great for all the years I’ve had it  (home use… very limited volume… but at least one page per day or two).

A couple weeks ago received the  “Printhead Missing  or Not Detected”  … just when I went to print a single page (no cartridge changes, etc. in recent days/weeks).

Questions:

  1. Do you sell/install replacement printheads (CR322A) ?
  2. What would the cost be to do that service (parts + labour + taxes) ?  “

Take care,

-Steve

Still  <Zero Response>  from  HP Authorized  Service Centres

   1)   Ram Imaging    - since April 5 at 3pm

   2)   TIG   - since April 9, 1pm

Contacted the 3rd-closest  (Telecom Computer)  on April 11th.

- responded quite quickly noting:

they "do not service  Consumer owned  HP OfficeJet Pro  printers  ...."

Hi @Steve_R_M,

As it is a very old printer, the parts may not be available. I suggest that you upgrade the unit to the latest model.

I have sent you a private message with this information to talk to HP online store.

In order to access your private messages, click the Private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Community profile Next, to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it or simply click on this link

Take care and have a nice day.

Hi Rainbow23,

The printer is little old, agreed - but it had been working without issue until the printhead just up and died.

Despite its age, many of the  "HP Listed"  parts resellers in the USA -have- the replacement printhead in stock -but don't ship to Canada... and the (only) one "HP Listed" parts reseller for Canada doesn't sell direct to consumer (site says you have to be a reseller).

Why has HP chosen to -not- support Canadian customers who have purchased and used their printers (where similar parts support exists easily for USA customers)?

"Just throw it away in the dump and buy a new one from us "  isn't a great Customer (or environmentally) friendly "solution".
