HP have changed the cartridges on my printer from 177 to 363, will the printer automatically recognise the different number cartridges ?

No.  It appears you bought the printer in another country and moved.  You did not mention that.

 

Here are your cartridges.  You must have your printer regionalized for the new country you are in by calling HP directly.

 

HP Printers - Find and Install Cartridges after Moving to another Country.  The printer needs to be regionalized to the new country.

You will need new cartridges from the country you are in at the time you contact HP below.
