HP 8715

I purchased my printer and it came with black and color ink. That ran out. I only really use black ink so I purchased the 952XL ink. I replaced the cartridge correctly but I’m getting an error message. It says ”depleted cartridges must be replaced to resume printing”. Does that mean I need to purchase color too even though I don’t need it? Please help

Due the the design of the printhead, yes.
