I have forgotten my admin user name and password.  Since there is no way to retrieve them, I am now unable to log in to the webpage and make any modifications to my printer settings.

Is there a way to either retrieve and reset the admin user name and password?

If not, is there a way to hard reset the printer to factory default so I can reconfigure the printer?

I've searched and tried all ways so hopefully someone knows the answer.

Thanks.

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP Officejet 8715 Printer. I understand that you are unable to login to EWS page and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

As you forgot the login credentials for EWS page,

Restore the printer to the original network settings which will reset the login credentials.

1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch ( Setup ).

2. Touch Network Setup.

3. Touch Restore Network Settings. A message appears stating that the network defaults will be restored.

4. Touch Yes.

5. Print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been reset.

Once you restore the network settings, try these credentials,

User Name: admin.

Password  :  admin

Let me know if that helps.

Cheers.

Thanks for the response.  The printer dashboard still requires the user/password combo to restore.  Is there anyway I can just hard reset the printer to factory defaults?

Thanks for the reply.

I appreciate your time and effort.

As you have already tried these steps and still having the issue, I would personally suggest you contact our HP phone support for further assistance. If your product is Out of warranty then remember to choose the paid options to get the tech support number.

They might have multiple options to help you on this.

Please use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect

Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number and phone number appear.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

Cheers
