I've managed to get to the reset menu and have tried various resets, even tried the reflash option today(whatever that does) each take ages to finish.
I've previously cleaned the printhead contacts and still get error message. It seems high streets seem not to offer printer repair services but rather suggest "bin and replace"! Why when it works its brilliant for that single year since purchase then missing printhead error. Is there anyone in this community seriously familiar with the 7216 and its repair?

@Dublin7 Welcome to HP Community!
I suggest you start with a firmware upgrade: click here for steps and here to download the firmware,
If the issue persists, follow the below steps:
Step 1: Reset the printer
Resetting the printer might clear the error message.
-
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
-
Unplug the power cord from the power source.
-
Wait 60 seconds.
-
Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.
NOTE:
HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
-
Turn the printer on.
If the error message persists, continue to the next step.
