Hi @FIR95,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are getting the "SUPPLY SYSTEM PROBLEM" error on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 typically relates to issues with the ink cartridges or the ink supply system.
Here are some steps you can follow to try and resolve this issue:
1. Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
2. Check for Jammed Cartridges
- Open the ink cartridge access door and check for any obstructions or jammed cartridges.
- If a cartridge is stuck, gently move it back to its normal position.
3. Remove and Reinsert Ink Cartridges
- Open the printer cover and remove all ink cartridges.
- Inspect each cartridge for damage, ink leakage, or debris.
- Clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
- Reinsert the cartridges and make sure they are properly seated.
4. Use Genuine HP Ink Cartridges
- Make sure you're using authentic HP ink cartridges. Sometimes, third-party or refilled cartridges can cause this issue.
5. Check for Firmware Update Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Sometimes an outdated firmware can cause problems with ink cartridges. Go to HP's website and check if there's a firmware update available for your printer.
6. Perform a Power Reset
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the wall outlet, and wait for about 2-3 minutes.
- Replug the printer, turn it back on, and check if the issue is resolved.
7. Clean the Printhead
- If the issue persists, try cleaning the printhead using the printer's menu settings.
- Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.
8. Run Printer Diagnostics
- Use the HP Smart App or your printer's control panel to run a diagnostic test. This might help identify any supply system issues.
9. Hard Reset or Restore Factory Settings
- As a last resort, you can try resetting the printer to factory defaults. Be aware that this will reset all settings.
- Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Defaults.
If the error persists after trying these steps, it could be a hardware issue related to the printer's ink supply system.
